November 1992 – Suzhou New District was approved as a national high tech industrial development zone by the State Council
1994 – Suzhou New District established the first "international companies' incubators"
1997 - Suzhou New District became the first APEC hi-tech development zone opened to attract foreign investors from APEC countries
1998 - Suzhou New District set up the first Overseas Chinese High-tech Venture Park in China
2000 - Suzhou New District became the first national export base for technology-related services and products in China
September 2002 – The People’s government of Suzhou adjusted the administration of its districts, and established the new Suzhou New District and Huqiu district.
June 2005 – Suzhou science and technology Town, the first large science and technology innovation base jointly developed by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China, the People's government of Jiangsu and Suzhou government in the country, was set up.
August 2006 – Suzhou New District became a national cultural industrial demonstrative base.
April 2007 – Suzhou New District became the only national high tech development zone with a circular economy.
March 2008 – Suzhou New District became the first national eco-industrial exemplary zone
July 2008 – Suzhou New District was listed as an “international science and technology cooperative base” by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China
March 2009 – The Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China approved Suzhou New District’s building of a national innovative science and technology park
November 2010 – The SND Integrated Free Trade Zone passed the State acceptance inspection
October 2011 – The Patent Examination Cooperation Jiangsu Center of the Patent Office, SIPO, settled in the Suzhou science and technology Town
June 2012 – Suzhou New District was declared the first national intellectual property service industrial cluster development zone
2016 – Suzhou New District was approved as the provincial green building demonstration area in Jiangsu province
September 2017 – Suzhou New District was listed as the country's first national green zone
