Basketball superstar Lou Williams, who plays for the National Basketball Association (NBA)'s Los Angeles Clippers, made a personal appearance at the Suzhou New District Cultural and Sports Center, venue of the National Youth Basketball Open (NYBO) finals, on Aug 1.
He gave a training lesson to the young basketball players in the finals at the center.
The NBA star, named the NBA Sixth Man of the Year in 2015 and 2018, an award given to the league's best performing substitute in a season, warmed up and stretched with his young fans, passed on practical skills to them and shared experiences from his basketball career.
Williams said that he tried out many different sports when he was a child, including rugby and baseball, but in the end, basketball became his favorite.
So, he hoped these young players will figure out what they are really into and then do their best to be successful in their selected field.
He also shared his setbacks and failures in his career to encourage the kids and tell them do not be easily defeated by any difficulties.
The National Youth Basketball Open (NYBO) finals took place from July 30 to Aug 2.
