Suzhou New District (SND) held the traditional folk activity in Lianhua Temple on Sept 9, attracting countless people to the folk gala-Galianhua.
Galianhua, which has been reserved for more than 1,000 years, is a series of performances staged at a temple fair, including traditional fan dance and waist drum dance.
After offering incense to Buddha and attending the dharma assembly, the pilgrims can witness traditional dragon and lion dances.
During the night, the gala-goers burnt incenses and placed lotus lanterns on the river in front of Lianhua temple to pray for happiness.
There are many stalls at the two sides of the road in front of Lianhua temple on the day, offering traditional snacks such as begonia cake, sugar cake, preserved fruits and traditional handicrafts.
