Suzhou-funded industry park in Indonesia inaugurated

The industry park invested by a Suzhou New District-based company in Jakarta, capital of Indonesia, was inaugurated in Suzhou New District, eastern Jiangsu province, on Aug 9.

Invested by Jiangsu Jidabang Agriculture and Forestry Industry Holding Group, the Indonesia Ketapang Industry Park includes a Suzhou Indonesia Ketapang Industrial Cooperative Park – a provincial level industry park in Jiangsu and a Suzhou Ketapang Smart Home Sci-tech Industry Park.

The former was put into service in May with a total investment of $800 million, where 27 companies have gone into operation with an expected annual production value of $300 million.

The latter, with a planned investment of $450 million, is expected to be constructed into a smart factory and a business zone for headquarters economy, which will be completed by 2022.

At present, Suzhou has launched 446 projects in nearly 40 countries along the Belt and Road route with a total investment of roughly $7 billion, of which 44 projects came from Suzhou New District.

Over the past several years, Jiangsu province has established three national-level and three provincial-level overseas cooperative parks in Cambodia, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia and Tanzania.

To date, the six industry parks have paid a tax of $100 million to their host countries and offered 43,000 jobs for local residents.
